And to round out the day of guest posts, go read a reflection on Christmas I wrote for Logan at Melodic Bread and then come back and read below. Trust me, it’s worth it!
You back? You didn’t peek, right? (ha.)
This year, he told me he got a present from J. Crew and that I could exchange it for a different size. He was really upset about it and told me to not look through the catalog because I might set my heart on something else like I had the previous year. I’m going to admit I was slightly disappointed he was trying for clothes again, after last year’s fiasco with his present not being exactly what I wanted. (I am extremely specific about clothes. My mother warned him!)
So when I ripped off the wrapping paper and opened up a huge J. Crew box to find another smaller box inside, I was puzzled. I had an inkling it was all a ploy but I had no idea what was inside. When I opened it up, I shouted “Oh, my God!” and immediately started crying. It wasn’t the object that made me cry, but the fact that he bought it because he cared about me and about what I’m trying to accomplish with my life and wants to support me in my endeavors anyway he can.
